BBC and KC end contract to film Crufts

THE BBC and the Kennel Club have ‘mutually agreed’ to terminate the contract to film Crufts.

This means the TV company will definitely not be filming Crufts 2010, which would have been the last show in its three-year contract.

The decision was made as the KC was on the point of announcing that the show is to be filmed by production company Sunset & Vine, and will be available live on the KC’s website.

LIVE action from Crufts will be available on the Kennel Club’s website for the first time in the show’s history.

The live webstream has been arranged following the BBC’s decision not to film the show this year.

It will follow all of the events in the Arena programme, including the groups and BIS, heelwork to music and agility, and the Friends for Life competition.

Crufts 2009 will be Streamed Online

The Kennel Club has today announced that dog lovers worldwide will be able to see the action from Crufts 2009 live on the internet for the first time in the show’s history.

The live webcast will follow all of the events in the Arena programme, from Heelwork to Music and Agility to the Best in Group and Best in Show judging and the ever popular Friends for Life competition that rewards our dog heroes. There will also be a new element to the Arena programme where the winners of the We Love Our Dogs competition - which invited all dog owners to send in video clips and photographs of their happy, healthy dogs - will be announced. Peter Purves and Frank Kane will provide commentary for the live web stream, which will be interspersed with features showing the interviews and action from outside the Arena.

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club spokesperson, said: “Dogs and their owners look forward to Crufts every year and this live webcast will enable people, wherever they are in the world, to continue to watch the show and celebrate with us the diverse role that dogs play in society.

Young Dogs to Take Part in Kindergarten Crufts

On Thursday 8th March, ten young dogs will be heading to the NEC, Birmingham to compete at Crufts 2009 in one of the highest levels of achievements for young pedigree dogs.

The Grand Final of the Kennel Gazette Junior Warrant Winner of the Year Competition is aimed at dogs from the dog show world from the ages of 6 to 18 months.

For the chance to win this special Kennel Club award, dogs need to have achieved the title of Junior Warrant winner by collecting points awarded for first prizes at both Open and Championship Dog shows over the previous year. The finalists then won through from semi-finals held last November at the Kennel Club’s Discover Dogs event in London.
